Collaboration builds strength.
Innovation propels us forward.
American Excess Insurance recognizes achievements and supports the ongoing efforts of members who improve patient safety and implement quality initiatives that positively impact clinical and operational outcomes.
The American Excess Insurance Awards and Grants Program – now known as The Lighthouse Awards program – recognizes projects that improve safety and quality within our members’ organizations and illustrate Excellence through Innovation. Awards are bestowed to member organizations whose completed projects successfully promote patient safety or reduced liability. These projects must be easily shared with and adopted by other members.
Members can apply for Grants on proposed projects that are designed to improve quality and patient safety, the results of which can be shared with and adopted by other members. The financial support provided through this program has awarded and facilitated the implementation of nearly 100 projects since its inception 20 years ago. Recent grant and award recipients have focused on important issues such as:
- Decreasing post-surgical opiate use
- Improving outcomes using wearable technology
- Addressing unanticipated radiological results
Awards
Awards are considered for activities that have had a real and tangible impact in the areas of patient safety and quality, and reduced liability.
Grants
Ideal grant recipients design programs that aim to positively impact patient safety and quality through new or improved processes and ideas.
